At Least Four Tornadoes Confirmed in Chicago Metro

Multiple Tornadoes Cause Damage, Uproot Trees

At least four tornadoes have been confirmed to have touched down in the Chicago metropolitan area on Wednesday evening, causing significant damage to homes and uprooting trees.

National Weather Service Confirms Tornadoes

The National Weather Service has confirmed that three tornadoes touched down in the Chicago area between approximately 5 and 7 pm on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. A total of 13 tornadoes were confirmed in the area.

A tornado warning was issued for Cook County at around 7 pm as multiple tornadoes moved through the area.

Damage Reported in Several Areas

Numerous homes have been damaged, with some completely destroyed. Uprooted trees have blocked roads and downed power lines, leaving thousands without power.

The National Weather Service is continuing to assess the damage and determine the extent of the tornadoes' impact.
