Creamy Mashed Potatoes

The Perfect Holiday Side Dish

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds Idaho potatoes
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup optional garlic, minced

Instructions:

  1. Peel and cube the potatoes.
  2. Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water.
  3. Bring to a boil over high heat.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes.
  5. Drain the potatoes in a colander.
  6. Return the potatoes to the pot and mash with a potato masher or fork.
  7. Add the milk, butter, and garlic (if using).
  8. Mash until smooth and creamy.
  9. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • For a smoother mash, use a potato ricer.
  • To make ahead of time, mash the potatoes and then refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat over low heat before serving.
  • Add your favorite seasonings to taste, such as salt, pepper, or herbs.
