Celtics Acquire Star Center in Three-Team Deal

Porzingis: "Excited to Join a Contender"

In a blockbuster trade that shook the NBA landscape, the Boston Celtics have acquired star center Kristaps Porzingis. The three-team deal also involved the Washington Wizards and Memphis Grizzlies.

Porzingis, a two-time All-Star and one-time All-NBA Second Team selection, joins a Celtics team that is already among the favorites to win the NBA championship. The 7'3" Latvian has averaged 20.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game over his career.

"I'm excited to join a contender," Porzingis said in a statement. "I believe I can help this team win a championship." The Celtics are hopeful that Porzingis' size, athleticism, and shooting ability will provide a major boost to their frontcourt. "We're thrilled to add Kristaps to our roster," said Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens. "He's a young, talented player who has already proven his ability to be a difference-maker in this league."
