Creamy Mashed Potatoes
The Perfect Holiday Side Dish
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds Idaho potatoes
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup optional garlic, minced
Instructions:
- Peel and cube the potatoes.
- Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water.
- Bring to a boil over high heat.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes.
- Drain the potatoes in a colander.
- Return the potatoes to the pot and mash with a potato masher or fork.
- Add the milk, butter, and garlic (if using).
- Mash until smooth and creamy.
- Serve immediately.
Tips:
- For a smoother mash, use a potato ricer.
- To make ahead of time, mash the potatoes and then refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat over low heat before serving.
- Add your favorite seasonings to taste, such as salt, pepper, or herbs.
